RCC Attends Financial Literacy Webinar
Date Posted : January 18, 2023

The College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) has ended its year with an informative and useful webinar on “Financial Literacy: Letting Money Work for You” held on December 09, 2022, via Zoom meeting. This free webinar on how to become financially literate was attended by the RCC teaching and non-teaching personnel, including the graduating students. The webinar aimed to give guidance in making better decisions on saving or investing money, helping to understand how finances work, and growing savings through reasonable investments.

The first resource speaker was Mr. Joseph M. Rosales, an RCC alumnus, educator, licensed financial advisor, unit manager at AIA Philippines, founder of JAM Financials, and the owner of Rosales Travels and Tours. In his talk, Mr. Morales discussed ways to achieve life goals by becoming aware and financially ready for the possible risks encountered later in life.

The second resource speaker was Mr. Alvin T. Custodio, a marketing officer at Pag-IBIG Fund in Angeles City Branch. Mr. Custodio is also an RCC alumnus, with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Business Administration. His discussion focused mainly on provident savings, one of the twin mandates of the Pag-IBIG Fund. He emphasized that “the larger the contribution, the larger the savings” which is due to the probable dividend earned from them.

Indeed, this webinar on financial literacy was filled with motivational words and tips that teaching and non-teaching personnel may apply as they start and continue to invest and save more for their personal and professional growth, most especially for their family. As stated by one of the speakers, “it is better to be 5 years ahead than to be 5 minutes too late.” If we start to save now, we may be able to break the cycle of challenges and sad realities that each family in the country faces generation by generation.
