CBA Initiates Webinar for BSA, BSMA, and ABM Students
Date Posted : March 24, 2022

By: Jhun Aldrin Ople, BSA-2

As spearheaded by the Accountancy Student Council (ASC) and Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) - RCC Chapter of the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA), the webinar entitled "CPA: The Untold Story Behind the Three Letters" successfully took off during the afternoon of November 19, 2021, through Google Meet and via Facebook Live. This was attended by the students from the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting (BSMA), and the Accountancy and Business Management (ABM) students of the Senior High School Department.

With the sudden announcement of the Professional Regulation Commission as regards the passing rate of the October 2021 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination (CPALE), the ASC and the JPIA-RCC Chapter immediately organized a webinar to increase the morale of the accountancy students and give them the motivation to keep up with the challenges they experience while heading to become future CPA. Two very able and competent CPAs - Mr. Mark Dwayne Malonzo and Mr. Luis Angelo De Jesus - served as the resource speakers of the said webinar.

Mr. Malonzo, as the first speaker, emphasized trust in oneself and that failure is only a part of life whereas Mr. De Jesus pointed out three things: Trust, faith, and hard work. Moreover, the speakers shared their own experiences, personal hindrances, and their motivations which the students have related to while learning under the roofs of virtual classrooms. By sharing thoughts and asking questions to the speakers through the chat box feature of Google Meet, the webinar concluded with an interactive and fruitful online session.

The webinar was wrapped up by awarding the certificates of appreciation to the resource speakers, the heartfelt closing remarks of the ASC and JPIA adviser, Prof. Erlinda J. Hipolito, and the exciting games and raffles for the attendees. Lastly, the students, with the CBA faculty members led by Dean Airwin S. Ditianquin, asserted that the webinar was timely, relevant, and beneficial in boosting aspiring CPAs to never give up and keep aiming for their dreams.
